How to Read a Book with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 — 6:00 pm
In his 1940 classic, “How to Read a Book,” the American philosopher and educator Mortimer Adler identifies three levels of reading: structural reading, in which the reader becomes familiar with how a particular book is organized; interpretive reading, in which the reader attempts to understand that book; and critical reading, in which the reader enters a conversation about the arguments the author makes in the book.
Together, these three levels are a key that can unlock many other books. Join the students of Zaytuna College for Part 2 of a special lecture by Hamza Yusuf about a book that can help all of us become better readers.
