This 24-CD series is based on a twelve-week Seerah Course that Shaykh Hamza Yusuf gave at the Islamic Study School in Hayward, California, in the Fall of 1998. The Zaytuna Institute surveyed the students who attended the course to provide you with a better sense of what to expect from the lectures. Here’s a variety of responses the students gave to the following questions:
What is your opinion of the Seerah class?
“The best of Shaykh Hamza’s classes…there’s no doubt the Seerah speaks for itself, but his explanation and input definitely contributed to the overwhelming poster of the subject.”
“An amazing, insightful and heart-warming class…”
“This was an excellent class. Highly recommended for all ages.”
What were your expectations of the class and did it meet your expectations?
“This class exceeded my expectations. I thought Shaykh Hamza would just go through the book, but instead, he brought the Seerah to life.”
“I expected to gain knowledge, but I was pleasantly overwhelmed by the spiritual emotion of the subject.”
“I expected to see the life of the Rasul illuminated. In that regard, my expectations were fulfilled.”
Do you feel this class was of benefit to you? How so?
“This class certainly proved beneficial and it gave us hope. In an unbalanced society lacking morals and guidance, it was refreshing to examine a society that worked in harmony for the pure sake of Allah.”
“I gained a better understanding of the Prophet and of the Quran. It gave me pride to be from the Ummah of the Prophet”.
“Absolutely! It engendered within me a much greater love of the Rasul than I had known before.”
After hearing the stories of the Prophet and of the companions, what is your view of the times we currently live in compared to that of the first generation?”
“We don’t compare to the first generation.”
“Day and night difference.”
“The crisis of the present Ummah is intrinsically related to the Muslims not knowing the life and teaching of their Messenger.”
If you have to remember only one thing from this class, what would it be?
“Great love and admiration…”
“A deep sense of awe…”
“Respect and love”
“Gratitude to Allah…”
